Sad News

This is She, not Scrooge.

I am so sorry to have to tell Scrooge's friends that he went on his last big adventure today.

We had an accident with the boat and by the time all the people were safe and we realized that we could not see Scrooge, it was too late to save him. He was trapped under the boat, and we could not get him out until help came.

We are all very, very sad, and we will miss him so very much. But under it all, I am just a little bit relieved that it is over and that Scrooge will never know the pain or the loss of dignity of the cancer that was already taking him to the rainbow bridge.

He loved his peoples - He, and me, and His Grandma, and Jessa and Tamara and all of his other friends. And he loved the boat. I wish, just this once that we had left him home - but how could we know?

Anyway... I don't know what else to write right now. Good-bye and much love from Scrooge.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about this. Scrooge was such a fun dog. I'm glad, though, that he won't have to suffer. Thanks for letting us know.

  2. Have to comment as anonymous as I don't think I have a profile here. I will miss Scrooge's commentary so much. He was a handsome dog and I hope he is running through fields now, having treats and sleeping on a big, soft bed. I'm glad all of you are safe. Sending hugs to all of his family.

  4. So very glad you posted! It is a lovely tribute to him. He died after a life in which he was loved and wanted and cared for and given Timbits and taken for rides and made to feel very, very special. And while there is no pain for him now, there is lots and lots of pain and tears for those who knew and loved him.

  5. I can't think of a way he'd rather go, surrounded by people who loved him, doing what he loved to do.

    I know he's happy.

  6. Oh no. That makes my heart hurt. I am so sorry my pal Scroogie had to go to the Bridge. He was a Good Boy. Soft purrs to you during this sad time.

  8. I'm so sorry Flit....Scrooge knew he was well loved. He died doing something he enjoyed, and I think you're right about going quick instead of having the cancer take him.

(Seeing mom really was a shock...the cancer and chemo is doing all sorts of things to her)
